Rutgers Center for Women in the Arts and Humanities
The Center for Women in the Arts at Douglass celebrates the contributions of women and gender-expansive individuals in the arts through a diverse array of programs. The Center offers experiential arts opportunities to students at Douglass Residential College and promotes the work and ideas of exceptional artists through exhibitions, campus residencies, and various initiatives. The Center is built on three pillars: Gender and Arts, the Dana Women Artists Series, and the Estelle Lebowitz Artist-in-Residence.
The Dana Women Artists Series is the oldest continuously running exhibition space in the United States dedicated to highlighting the work of contemporary women and gender-expansive artists. In partnership with Rutgers University Libraries, this series features exhibitions from the Artist-in-Residence, various artists, and Douglass students. Curated with input from Rutgers faculty and the Zimmerli partners, this space provides enriching experiences for Rutgers art enthusiasts and the public year-round.
The Gender and Arts initiative includes a certificate program, workshops, seminars, courses, and activities exploring art and arts-related programming for a wider student population at Douglass and Rutgers.
