Roseville Outreach Community Corporation

The Roseville Outreach Community Corporation is a certified 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to uplifting the lives of children and families in Newark and, more specifically, in the West Ward’s Fairmount Section. The organization offers programming that champions, enriches, and encourages our community. Our programs bring world-renowned musical artists to our neighborhoods to perform and to engage and inspire youth musicians to pursue their creative passions in the craft of music during our annual Gospel Jazz and Music Workshops. We have been a stalwart supporter of advancing literacy in neighboring schools with Shari’s Book Club, a no-cost program that provides grammar school kids with free, culturally appropriate books. A volunteer tutorial program supports it, encouraging a lifelong love of reading and building their libraries. We combat food insecurity by working in the Roseville Presbyterian Church’s Monthly Food Distribution Program, and we provide a neighborhood free meal feeding center for kids during the summer months in conjunction with the City of Newark’s Sun-Up Program. The ROCC’s Sun-up program provides part-time seasonal work for neighborhood youth as an entry into developing a work ethic and what it means to give back to the community. To paraphrase our motto, the ROCC strives to be a stabilizing anchor in a community of challenge and change. To that end, we believe children should be given every chance to realize their potential and zealously pursue their dreams, no matter their socio-economic status. Through our partnership with the Princeton Blairstown Center, we offer kids the opportunity to explore nature to develop their STEM skills, leadership development, and emotional skills through a five-day, 4-night overnight camp experience in rural New Jersey. The ROCC is raising funds to sustain and renovate the auditorium\ performance stage\ gymnasium at the Roseville Presbyterian Church as a multi-purpose community resource. Our plans call for the reinstitution of our Open Gym Program, which allows kids weekly recreation opportunities in a safe and welcoming environment and a Youth-Focused Urban Playhouse where youth can have a permanent artistic outlet to create and perform their works on an actual stage.
