Music in the Somerset Hills
Music in the Somerset Hills (MISH) is a musical community whose mission is to create musical experiences of the highest quality for those who live and work in the Somerset Hills and the surrounding area, providing performances and educational opportunities that will enhance the lives of people of all ages and all levels of ability. MISH has three primary programs.
The Somerset Hills Chorus is for those who love to sing and want to become better musicians in a supportive yet challenging environment. Open to anyone aged 14 and up, with or without experience, their model enables local amateur singers to perform extraordinary repertoire alongside more seasoned professionals.
The Concert Series brings accomplished professional musicians to perform with the Chorus in local venues. Performances have included the Vivaldi Gloria, Handel's Semele, and Messiah; anniversary concerts of works by Beethoven, Benjamin Britten, and Leonard Bernstein; a jazz concert of George Shearing works, and more. MISH has also hosted organ recitals, wind concerts, string quartets, carol sings, and vocal recitals.
Music Education includes an extensive Early Childhood Music Program and summer music camps for children and teens. MISH also offers scholarships to high school seniors who demonstrate musical excellence.
