Livingston Symphony Orchestra

The nonprofit Livingston Symphony Orchestra has been performing since 1956 in Livingston, NJ, providing symphonic, concerto, operatic, and popular works to its appreciative and enthusiastic audience. The Symphony is keenly involved in addressing the ever-growing need to expose young children and novice musicians to classical music through its annual Young Peoples Concert and Young Artists Competition.

Originating as a small ensemble providing the orchestral music for a town production of the Mikado, the group began to take hold in the local community as Livingston saw the need to give a classical music scene to its residents. Under the expertise of Conductor and Music Director Istvan Jaray, the orchestra grew into one of the finest regional symphonies in the metropolitan area. Currently, dedicated members of the orchestra are led by Maestro Anthony LaGruth, a conductor with extensive experience throughout country and abroad and faculty member at Seton Hall University.

The mission of the Livingston Symphony Orchestra (LSO) is to foster and maintain a community-focused organization dedicated to achieving the highest aspirations of musical art, to maintain and foster an interest in and enjoyment of music, and to instill in its community a stake in symphonic music by providing local concerts and education programs.
