Lewis Center for the Arts at Princeton University

The Lewis Center for the Arts encompasses Princeton University’s programs in Creative Writing, Dance, Theater & Music Theater, Visual Arts, and the interdisciplinary Princeton Atelier. The Center offers more than 150 courses each year, taught by award-winning faculty who are practicing artists and scholars, enrolled by more than 1,500 students (representing more than a quarter of undergraduates).

The Center serves the campus and the wider Princeton regional community through the presentation of over 100 public theater and dance performances, exhibitions, readings, film screenings, lectures, and concerts each year, most of them free. These events are rooted in the academic exploration of the Center's students, faculty and guest artists and so present unique opportunities for audiences to experience new work, works-in-progress, experimentation, new voices and perspectives, and a glimpse into the creative process, as well as award-winning guest artists, and more traditional arts programming. Audiences can sign up to receive a weekly email of upcoming events.

The Lewis Center is named in honor of the late Peter B. Lewis (1933 – 2013). A member of Princeton’s Class of 1955 and a former Charter Trustee of the University, Mr. Lewis ushered in a new era for the arts at Princeton with an unprecedented $101 million gift to the University in 2006.
