The Learned Kindred of Currie
The Learned Kindred of Currie is a leading Scottish non-profit cultural and educational organization dedicated to preserving and promoting Scottish and Highland heritage and the arts through a wide variety of programs.
Each spring, they produce the largest Tartan Day event in the world, Tartan Day on Ellis Island. This annual exhibit explores a specific aspect of Scottish-American history and culture and features performances by a host of Scottish artists, including pipers and drummers, Highland dancers, fiddlers, jugglers, and harpists.
In December, The Pipes of Christmas brings together musicians, soloists, and performers from across America and the UK for a stirring celebration of the Christmas season and the Celtic spirit, with live performances in New York and Summit, NJ.
The Learned Kindred of Currie sponsors eight scholarships for youth pursuing studies in the arts, including music, literature, drama, and history.
