Fair Lawn Arts Council
They inspire creativity and bring art to the Fair Lawn community through events and public art installations. The Fair Lawn Arts Council aims to promote the skills of all Fair Lawn, NJ, residents of all ages for free or at a nominal cost. By hosting these events and annual programs all over Fair Lawn, community members have the opportunity to support art initiatives and local businesses. Partnerships between local arts agencies and chambers of commerce generate measurable benefits across the arts, business, and community development sectors.
The mission of the Fair Lawn Arts Council is to involve the entire community in creating and appreciating art by sponsoring an annual "Art Expo" and to accomplish this by engaging the residents in projects that have no age or talent limitations and are creative and fun. Artwork helps express a community's values and creates an elevated sense of awareness for community members and visitors. Art represents life in many ways. A study of the arts gives greater meaning through expression, and it helps us better understand our emotions and present information. It brings our ideas and feelings into reality with greater cultural appreciation. Art and the fine arts communicate across all cultures that transform our attitudes and beliefs via images and stories. And hence, it serves as a vehicle for social change.
Another example is the Fair Lawns mural project. The program paired local artists, community members, and students with local businesses to create large-scale murals that elevate the outdoor spaces and increase foot traffic. The art beautifies historic buildings and makes integral bonds between local artists and small business owners, residents, and customers. It's a creative way to support local talents and New Jersey's entrepreneurial ecosystem. New murals are painted each year, continuing to celebrate how art is used to support our community.
