Cultural Integration and Arts Association

The Cultural Integration and Arts Association, or CINA, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on helping make the world around us a better, happier place. CINA aims to promote integrating people of varying cultural backgrounds into their respective communities through education and the arts in its many forms. Currently, they are working with the City of Newark to establish Taekwondo and Arts programs throughout various Centers and Schools, providing Empowerment Self Defense and Fitness programs and supporting the expansion of the arts through performances, competitions, workshops, seminars, and shows.

The Cultural Integration and Arts Association offers several different kinds of programs. They are:
Olympic Taekwondo: Olympic Taekwondo programs for ages pre-k through college.
Karate: Youth Shotokan Karate programs are for ages pre-k through 5th grade.
Boxing: Olympic Boxing provided by the coaching team of World Champion Shakur Stevenson.
Kickboxing: Kickboxing and Muay Thai programming for youth, teenage, and adult students for stress relief
Ballet: Youth ballet programming for 3rd through 5th grade.

CINA also started a program called The Strong Women Project for women's self-defense for teens and adults. The Strong Women Project was established to empower women to live their full potential and provide the necessary life skills to feel empowered and safe. They believe that self-defense is an essential life skill that should be learned by everyone, especially women. According to the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, women suffer 4.8 million incidences of domestic violence every year. Their goal with the Strong Women Project is to empower women with the tools necessary to learn how to defend themselves and their loved ones. Classes are currently being offered in partnership with Team Raposa throughout the City of Newark at various locations.
