Burlington County Cultural & Heritage Affairs
Whether it’s history or hiking, art, or Zumba, there is something for everyone to enjoy in the Burlington County Park System! The Park System includes recreational and equestrian trails, historical sites, a visitor center, museums, and art galleries. Park naturalists, historians, artists, and guest presenters offer programs on natural sciences, visual and culinary arts, history, exercise and yoga, and interesting ways to just enjoy the parks and your leisure time.
Preserving the county’s heritage and making history come alive through the parks system is a key mission of the Burlington County Board of Commissioners. Programs offered at Historic Smithville Park and the Lyceum of History and Natural Sciences will provide visitors with a window into the County’s past, and the Historic Prison Museum, a National Historic Landmark, tells an intriguing story of early American architecture and prison life.
Visual arts and music are major contributors to a full and enjoyable life. Art galleries located in Smithville Park in Eastampton, and the Warden’s House in Mount Holly, present visual arts throughout the year. The teaching kitchen at the Agricultural Center in Moorestown provides opportunities to learn and experience culinary arts with cooking classes held in person and virtually, with an emphasis on healthy living and its link with the county’s agricultural community. Events include pop-up concerts in the parks during spring, summer, and fall and other cultural and educational programs throughout the year. No matter what activities you prefer, outdoor or indoor, there’s something for you to enjoy in the Burlington County Parks!
