Brook Arts Center
The Brook Arts Center is a non-profit theater located in the historic borough of Bound Brook. It offers a wide range of performances, concerts, dance, music, and community events. The venue is available for corporate, social, non-profit, and arts-related events, screenings, and film shoots.
The Historic Brook Theater is the only existing vaudeville theater remaining in Somerset County, and one of eight in New Jersey, and was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in May 2014.
From the time of its inception, the Brook has been a contributing component to the community and region. Through the various interior and management changes over the years, the theater stands structurally intact, possessing most of its original features and offering its historical significance as a cultural lightning rod for artists. While there is still much work to be done to bring the theater back to its former splendor, it is a fully operating multi-use facility.
The Brook Orchestra has been a part of the Artist in Residency program at the Brook Arts Center since 2016. The Brook Orchestra began in the fall of 1974 as a class. Today, the ensemble has grown to over 50 members. The orchestra members come from all walks of life to share their love of music with the community.
Camp Brook is Brook Arts Center’s summer camp, designed to provide a fun creative experience for students entering grades 3 - 10, who are interested in exploring the wonders of theater. Their experienced staff writes an original stage play for the campers to perform. Campers learn about all aspects of theater including acting, singing, dancing, lighting, costuming, and more. They have the opportunity to perform in the show or be part of the creative team.
As a nonprofit organization, the Brook Arts Center events are staffed by a group of loyal volunteers.
