American Theater Group
American Theater Group (ATG) is a nonprofit professional theater company founded in 2012. Since its inception, ATG has become a “launching pad” for future Off-Broadway and international productions and film projects, while serving as a premiere resource for future leaders in the theater community.
ATG produces works primarily by American playwrights with an emphasis on the development of new works and the rediscovery of undeservedly neglected older ones.
ATG offers a strong line-up of programming for adults as well as educational opportunities for New Jersey students. These opportunities include the New Works/New Voices playwright mentorship program. Students work under the supervision of a professional playwright, writing short plays that professional actors then perform. The ATG PlayLab, launched in September 2020, is a professional space for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) and Queer (LGBTQ+) playwrights to develop their works for the stage.
ATG engages audiences by making theater’s glorious possibilities accessible to the diverse community in which we live, through remarkable performances and quality arts-in-education programming.
