How do I register my school?
Registration for the 2016-2017 school year is now closed.
NJ POL invites all teachers involved in the program to join a Facebook page created just for teachers to discuss the POL program, sharing thoughts, experiences, and questions. This will be a working resource for all teachers following the POL curriculum. Join the NJ POL Teacher Discussion Group!
What happens when I register my school?
Registered schools will receive free multi-media toolkits which include: a teacher's guide complete with lesson plans, audio and DVD support materials, and posters. In addition, teachers will receive updates and support from the NJ Poetry Out Loud Coordinator and their prospective regional partner throughout the year.
The Anthology and a digital copy of the curriculum guide can be found on the national Poetry Out Loud website: poetryoutloud.org. Important: Please note that the national Poetry Out Loud website is a resource ONLY. Please follow the New Jersey Poetry Out Loud website for specific program structure and important dates.
How does the curriculum work?
The curriculum for Poetry Out Loud is designed to fit into a teacher's busy schedule. The program takes place over the span of a few weeks, according to each teacher's interest and agenda, and does not require full class periods. To accommodate schools' testing demands and vacation calendars, Poetry Out Loud can be implemented at the school level anytime during September through early January.
