Get away to
Cape May for Shakespeare at the shore!
This contemporary, opulent production of Shakespeare's most
famous play of love, loss, and revenge will take place outdoors on the grounds of the historic Emlen Physick Estate. Presented by the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts, REV Theatre's Hamlet will emphasize the fusion of Shakespeare’s language and the company's dynamic physicality, reflecting the intense emotional life of the play. Another of REV’s trademarks is the active involvement of the audiences in its outdoor productions (just as it was in Elizabethan playhouses) as witnesses to and participants in the events, giving the play’s action great immediacy and excitement.
Arrive early to check out the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Art's Night Art Market! Also on the Physick Estate grounds, the market will feature the works of a variety of talented local and regional artists. There will be food vendors and music in addition to the juried art.
Join us in the cafe tent for refreshments from Empanada Mama's starting at 6:30 PM, followed by the 7 PM performance. Don't forget to pack chairs and/or picnic blankets to get comfortable on the grass!
After the performance of Hamlet, we'll enjoy an exclusive chat with REV Theatre’s co-founder and co-artistic director, Rosemary Hay. Ms. Hay trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts and has taught and directed at numerous schools, including the Central School of Speech and Drama, London; the Stella Adler Conservatory; the Juilliard School; the Yale School of Drama; and the University of the Arts, Philadelphia. She is also the co-founder of the Scranton Shakespeare Festival.
