Oil and spray paint on canvas
30" x 24"
Chuck Hosier has been an abstract painter for seventeen years who works on canvas, wood, sheetrock and concrete using oils, acrylics, spray paint, rustolium oil based paints, and mixed media. Raised in Southern New Jersey, he currently lives in Pitman.

Of his work he explains, “My paintings are emotional, spontaneous and uninhibited. I am primarily self-taught therefore the techniques used are for the most part, personally experimental in nature. I paint using oils, acrylics, various house paints, and spray paints. Surfaces are mostly canvas, wood, and sheetrock. Abstract painting, for me, is about expressing emotion. The satisfaction I find in the physical act of painting is what drives me from canvas to canvas. The end result whether it be good or bad is what it is; a painting, a sculpture, a mess, or all of the above. Living inside of the creative moment, feeling, smelling, wearing the medium and working out expressive urges are the reasons I began and continue to paint. I try not to be overly analytical regarding my work or the work of others. I enjoy what a good picture does to my eyes, mind, and gut on a physical level. It is very basic, exciting, and human.”

Hosier has participated in many exhibitions throughout the area. Most recent exhibitions include: Borders Books and Music (Marlton NJ); Spring Exhibit 2007, Gallery 125, (Trenton, NJ), Wood Street Fair (Burlington, NJ); 2nd Saturday Arts and Music Fair, Grooveground Coffee bar (Collingswood NJ), Kate Lemay gallery ART (Medford, NJ), and Philly Stir Fry Live, Fifth Stone Studios (Philadephia, PA). He was also featured in the Fall 2006 of Philadelphia Stories Magazine.
